Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Green beans

  • 1/2 lb ground pork

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch 

  • 3/4 - 1 cup vegetable oil 

  • 1 tbsp garlic minced

  • 1 tbsp ginger minced

Pork Marinade ingredients:​

  • 4 tbsp chili oil

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp chile flakes or crushed red pepper flakes

  • pinch salt and pepper

Method:

Marinade

In a medium mixing bowl add all the above marinade ingredients

  • Mix well until all combined and brown sugar dissolved

  • Add the pork and mix well

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight

Bean Preparation​

  • Trim the ends off the beans

  • Cut beans in half or bite size pieces

  • Rinse beans and drain in colander

  • Place beans into a medium mixing bowl

  • Toss the beans with the cornstarch

  • Heat a wok or high sided skillet to medium high heat

  • Add the vegetable oil

  • Add the beans a handful at a time and Blanch/fry the beans for 40-50 seconds

  • Set beans aside on rack or paper towels

  • remove wok/skillet from heat

Method cont:

Completing the dish

  • mince the garlic and ginger

  • Remove excess oil from wok and reheat on medium high

  • Cook the garlic and ginger till fragrant and translucent about 1 minute

  • Add the pork a little at a time and cook until thoroughly browned

  • Add the beans cook 2 minutes mixing well into the pork

  • Taste and season with salt and pepper

  • Drain excess fat and serve
