Ingredients:
1 baguette yields 8 melts

1 French Baguette

16 slices ham (2 per slice of bread)

12 slices Swiss Cheese (about 1.5 per slice of bread)

3 tbsp butter

Method:

Set oven broiler to "high"

Cut the baguette into 4 equal portions

Cut each portion in half through the middle of the bread. leaving 8, 6-7" pieces of bread

Place each portion crust side down exposing the soft breading

Generously butter each piece
-
Place all butter side up on a baking sheet

Broil approximately a minute to a minute and a half. Just melt the butter and add a very slight toast to the bread

Remove from broiler and build the melt

Add 2 slices of ham per slice

Top the ham with the cheese, enough to cover all of the bread and ham
-
Place again on baking sheet cheese side up
-
Broil until cheese melted and a bubbly golden brown
