Ingredients:

1 baguette yields 8 melts

  • 1 French Baguette 

  • 16 slices ham (2 per slice of bread)

  • 12 slices Swiss Cheese (about 1.5 per slice of bread)

  • 3 tbsp butter

Method:

  • Set oven broiler to "high"

  • Cut the baguette into 4 equal portions

  • Cut each portion in half through the middle of the bread.  leaving 8, 6-7" pieces of bread

  • Place each portion crust side down exposing the soft breading

  • Generously butter each piece

  • Place all butter side up on a baking sheet

  • Broil approximately a minute to a minute and a half. Just melt the butter and add a very slight toast to the bread

  • Remove from broiler and build the melt

  • Add 2 slices of ham per slice 

  • Top the ham with the cheese, enough to cover all of the bread and ham

  • Place again on baking sheet cheese side up

  • Broil until cheese melted and a bubbly golden brown
